Yin is an ancient yoga style which is rooted in the more commonly known Hatha yoga. Yin literally opens up space in Body and Soul.
Cold training
Training with the cold for increasing body energy, reducing stress inhibiting inflammation and strengthening the immune system.

Breathing influences the chemical composition of your blood and that is what determines how (good) you feel.
Sound work
During Yin sessions I use applied music and sounds to support you. Everything is vibration. And by applying harmonious vibrations we can harmonize the body through the principle of resonance.

About Me
Dear reader, my name is Jan and I am from the Netherlands. Since October 2024 living in Doso, concello Narón, Galicia.
In the Netherlands I was, among many other things, busy with giving Y.I.N Yoga sessions as I am a Yin Yoga teacher and a breath coach. Breath is consciousness
I had my own space and organised bigger Yin sessions in several beautiful locations such as churches, Yoga schools and the Sufi temple in Katwijk the Netherlands.
What is YIN?
Yin is an ancient yoga style which is rooted in Hatha yoga. With slow movement we’ll keep a pose for extended time. For about 3 to 5 minutes. This stretches the connective tissue. Therefore the water, which we are for 70%, permeates deeply into the connective tissue. In this way the whole body becomes more fluid. And you simply feel better about yourself because in addition to nutrients, water also contains information.

Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang yoga styles move energy troughout the body and help improve physical, mental, and emotional well being. But Yin yoga offers two components that Yang yoga lacks: a focus on Stillness and an emphasis on longer, deeper stetching of the tissues that surround your body’s moving parts. While most Yang styles are more quickly and focus on muscle tissues, Yin yoga moves slowly and stretches more deeply into the body.

Yin has an enormous overlap with Mindfullness
Yin has an enormous overlap with Mindfulness. For me Yin goes beyond yoga. Each pose (asana) is a meditation in itself. Once you find your limit in the pose you hold it and remain still. By achieving a meditative state, your ability to perceive the signals your body gives grows and so does the ability to honour your limits. Being still is essential in this very noisy modern world. Mother Earth is screaming out for your attention. Or is it that Mother Earth maybe whispers for your attention, longs for your attention? Better listen.
We don't live on the Earth, we Are the Earth
Our body consists of several different elements that come from Mother Earth. Such as carbon, oxygen, hydrogyn and nitrogen, salt and other minerals, water and much more. All elements from the Earth.
We do not live on Earth, we are an inseparable part of the Earth! So when you take care of yourself, of your body (which is a Temple), you take care for the Earth and the of whole universe that lives within you. So take good care of yourself first and the rest will follow. As above, so below. As within, so without.
Scientifically proven positive results of Yin yoga
Just as meditation has a strong positive effect on the brain, so does Yin. After a period of 3 months of practising Yin, a measurable change in blood flow can be measured in the brain. Except in the amygdala, which is a positive result, because that is where fear and pain are localised. Yin has a clear effect on reducing chronic inflammatory processes and on various stress hormones.
Where The Gym Ends I Begin
ALL is One! So if you cut a tree, you’ll cut a part of yourself. If you kill a mosquito, you’ll kill a part of yourself. This is because everything is connected with everything. Everything on Earth is animated. All from the same source. One source.
Y.I.N. in my opinion, stands for Your Inner Nature. Inner Nature as in “We are Nature”. What is the force beyond (inner) nature? To me this force is the Absolute Stillness. Beyond the beyond. Where do you come from? What were you before you were born, before the ideas, beliefs and stories of other people came around? Parents, school and culture together make a huge imprint on us via crystallised frequencies in the water of your body.
It is my intention to make a new connection, to renew the connection with the Absolute Silence. Which is beyond our Inner Nature.
We do this by exercising the body poses which are movements in stillness, stillness in movement. Every pose is a short meditation in combination with mindfulness breathing.
This gives all the cells of the body the necessary space to recover. YIN Yoga generates more health, flexibility, relaxation, body strength and much more. Yin yoga is for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.

Your Health Is Sacred
We do not live on Earth but we Are Earth! When you take care of yourself, you take care of Mother Earth and all of our fellow earth inhabitants. Good health is a prerequisite for inner peace. Inner peace creates peace in the world. As above, so below. As within, so without.
Yin Implies Yang
There’s no left without right. No heat without cold. No stillness without movement. No Yin without Yang. Besides Yin I also taught workshops in cold training (ice bath or ocean in winter) in combination with breathing techniques and mindset.
I learned these techniques in person from the famous Wim Hof a.k.a. The Iceman. This was in the year of 2016 and took place in the Netherlands and in Poland. The combination of the breathing, the mindset and the cold generates POWER and happiness hormones such as serotonin, endorphin, dopamine, oxytocin. You’ll train your veins and there will be more white blood cells in your blood and less inflammatory proteins. After 20 minutes of breathing techniques, your body will have 25 – 28% more oxygen at the cellular level.
More oxygen equals more energy and more energy equals more warmth. Paradoxically, the cold hereby becomes your warm friend.
The exercises will give your immune system a boost and activate your autonomic nervous system which is far less autonomic than you might think. You are capable of doing a whole lot more with your body than you may think, more than you believe.
Mind over matter is a real thing. Yang breath work, cold training and mindset generate more health, energy, willpower, body strength and much more.

I can come over to your place. And there can be more than one person at the time, depending on the space we have at our disposal.
The price for a Yin session at your place, whether you join alone or with a group, is €15,- p.p. A session will take about 90 minutes. This is without the cost of gazoil which is €0,50/km (just the one way trip, return trip for free). In case you’re a group I can discount this.
It’s also possible to come alone or in small groups to Doso Narón. The only thing you need is enough room to put your yoga mat (which I can bring along as well).
In a Yin session I also work with the harmonising effect of the sound bath, using singing bowls, shrutibox, drum, koshi’s and more. And also specially selected music.
For cold training and for lessons in breathing techniques more or less the same applies as for Yin. However, first it’s needed to get in touch to discuss requirements and options. For this you can e-mail me or a message me via WhatsApp. Or just give me a call.
